Singapore
The Fullerton Hotel can be found in a beautifully restored building on the Singapore River. Originally opened in 1928 it was the grandest building in the colony, it housed the General Post Office and the Singapore Club, an elite club for British colonials and foreign business people.
Price
The price reflects that it's classified as a 5 star hotel. However depending on what time of year and days you plan to stay, there are cheaper rates available. I was able to take advantage of a discounted rate.
Location
Fabulous location right on the Singapore River, there's the Jubilee Walkway that passes by the hotel, two heritage bridges which open up the other side of the river. The Merlion is a 5 minute stroll away, the Clarke Quay restaurant and entertainment area is close by. The hotel is about a 25 minute taxi ride from the airport. There's a MRT station nearby as well.
The Grand staircase in the foyer (set up for wedding photos) at the bottom there is a koi pond.
Facilities
The room was a generous size with a huge bed. The windows opened up to an outdoor terrace.
A well stocked minibar, complete with book about the history of the hotel.
The bathroom was also a generous size and I particularly liked that the toilet had its own separate room. Huge shower (with stool!) and a big bathtub.
The room had a tablet loaded with information about the hotel (rather than a book or binder) and it was possible to order room service from the tablet. There was also a mobile phone available to use.
Optional Extras
There's a pool that overlooks the river and a spa for hotel guests.
Taken from a sun lounger!
View from the pool
The hotel offers High Tea in its atrium.
The hotel is a favourite location for weddings, this area that crosses the atrium was set up for a couple's wedding blessing.
View from a window of Marina Bay
There's a selection of restaurants and bars including a rooftop one with amazing views.
Summary
Loved my stay there, the location in particular was terrific, especially for a short stopover. The staff were helpful and attentive, I would recommend visiting for afternoon tea or a drink in the rooftop bar just to experience the hotel. Would definitely stay there again!
