Newest attraction at Gardens by the Bay
One of my favourite parts of Singapore is Gardens by the Bay. With this year's visit I discovered that a new attraction had been opened in April, it's called Floral Fantasy. It is easy enough to find as it's located next to the Bayfront MRT exit to Gardens by the Bay.
It's possible to visit just Floral Fantasy, but I thought it was better value to get a ticket that included entrance to Floral Fantasy, the Cloud Dome and the Flower Dome. The shuttle bus that takes you down to the domes was also included. (You can walk it's not that far!) With viewing Floral Fantasy you are repeatedly warned that once you leave the exhibit you can't go back in so make the most of your time there.
I loved it as soon as I entered, the exhibition is a wonderful riot of colours at the start.
Flowers are displayed at all angles, including up on the ceiling.
These flower balls move up and down.
Roses
I was amazed at the work involved to keep this exhibition going, these roses were cut roses and so would need to be constantly refreshed.
It wasn't very crowded when I went there but I was still amused by people who seemed to take in professional photographers to pose them around the displays. This area was a particular favourite, so it involved quite a bit of waiting for me to get a people free photo!
Orchids
Hanging basket
Water feature
This part was incredible, with sheets of water falling into the pools, the paths remained dry but the effect was that of a rainforest.
Giant fern cave
The final part of the exhibition is a 4D experience called 'Flight of the Dragonfly'. You're taken into a theatre and the whole flight is immersive with the seats moving as you 'fly' around Gardens by the Bay, puffs of wind are blown in your face, light water spray hits you as the dragonfly dips down to the water. It was a fascinating experience!
Floral Fantasy costs $20 Singapore to enter, the entrances are timed, I was there in the afternoon and had no problem entering in what was the current timeslot. It's a good thing that the entrances are timed so the exhibition never gets too crowded which would ruin the experience. For anyone who likes plants, then the combined ticket to the Cloud and Flower domes as well as Floral Fantasy is quite good value.
Gardens by the Bay has a variety of locations to explore, the light show at night (which is free) is wonderful. I love the fact that I can keep coming back to the gardens and there always seems to be different things to see and experience.
