Where did I travel to?
Cradle Mountain
The year began with a trip to northern Tasmania, as well as exploring some of the small towns I spent a day at the Cradle Mountain National Park. The rest of Australia sweltered in a heatwave, northern Tasmania stayed a pleasant high 20s (Celcius!) with brilliant blue skies.
Grand Harbour, Valletta Malta
In June I set off for my biennial trip to Europe. I went and explored a new country to me, Malta. Loved it, especially Valletta and the Grand Harbour, Malta is on the list for a return visit!!
Fort St. Angelo, Valletta Malta
Across the Grand Harbour from the old town of Valletta is Fort St. Angelo, I finally learn how to use a telephoto lens to get a decent picture! (Rather than a distant dot!)
Mdina, Malta
Caught the bus to Mdina, the highest point on the island and the old capital of Malta. The zigzag of the street is deliberate so a person walking down the street couldn't see who was approaching them.
Lake Bled, Slovenia
Empty pletna boats in the morning, these boats take passengers out to the island, descendants of four families have the right to operate these boats. The Empress Maria Theresia decreed that only they were allowed to operate the boats to take pilgrims across to the island. This design of the flat bottom boats dates back to 1910, the boats are beautifully maintained.
Pine grove on Veliki Brijuni Island, Croatia
Deer that roam the island have eaten the lower branches of these pine trees. I really like this photo with the late afternoon sun bouncing colours off the trees.
Duino Castle, Italy
One of my favourite views, the well on the balcony of Duino Castle, the castle gardeners always do a lovely job of the flower planting against the blue ocean.
Miramare Park, Trieste Italy
Stairs leading down to the lower garden and the boat dock. Behind is the park, this was all a bare, rocky outcrop when Archduke Maximilian came across this piece of land, he planned and supervised the plantings that are there today.
Lake Lugano, Switzerland
Lake Lugano from Parco Ciani, I seem to have a lot of pictures of water, parks and gardens!
Rain vortex at Jewel, Chiangi Airport Singapore
The newest attraction at Chiangi Airport is Jewel. (Go there before you clear immigration, it's in the public part of the airport) The Rain vortex is amazing to see during the day, and at night there's a lightshow.
Tooleybuc Bridge, New South Wales Australia
This ended up being a a great picture, not a lot of thought went into it, I just wanted a picture of the old bridge!
