 I still managed a few!

Anson Bay, Norfolk Island

The only bit of travel I managed to do before the Covid-19 shutdowns, it was to Norfolk Island. I loved the island, it has a great combination of interesting history and great scenery.

Captain Cook's lookout, Norfolk Island

Captain Cook stopped on Norfolk Island as he thought the tall pines would make good ship's masts and the flax could be used for sail making. There's a great view from his monument of small islands off the coast.

Horseshoe Bay, South Australia

By midyear the Covid restrictions had begun to lift so it was possible to travel within our state. About an hour from Adelaide is the town on Port Elliot and the nearby Horseshoe Bay, a beautiful beach, which in summer would have quite the crowd. A sunny winter's day, still people around, with the Norfolk pines towering overhead. This picture was taken in the soldier's memorial park and each pine tree was dedicated to a particular soldier who died in World War I.

Rowers on the River Torrens at Golden Hour, Adelaide, South Australia

The rowers come down the river as far as the weir and then turn around row back up the river towards the city. Winter the sun begins to set earlier and so by late afternoon the city has a rather golden tinge to it.

Coonalpyn silos, Coonalpyn, South Australia

In the past few years different Australian rural towns have commissioned artists to paint murals on their silos, the height of the silos makes the artwork stunning. According to the sign the silos were built in 1965, and they stand 30 metres tall. The children depicted on the silos are children from the town. These murals were the first to be completed in South Australia and were painted by artist Guido van Helten and he finished them in March 2017.

Naracoorte Caves, the Stick-tomato cave, South Australia

The Naracoorte Caves National Park is South Australia's only World Heritage Site. There are different caves that can be visited, the Stick-tomato cave is one where you can visit without having to take a guided tour.

The Blue Lake, Mt. Gambier, South Australia

The Blue Lake really is a vivid blue colour. The lake is within the crater of an extinct volcano and is the main freshwater source for the town.
