Al Ru Farm

Open Garden Scheme The Open Garden Scheme is a wonderful way to experience private gardens that generally are not open to the public. Al Ru Farm is one I've been wanting to visit for a while and on a perfect spring day was able to go along and see these extensive gardens. The owners, Alan (Al from Al Ru) and Ruth (the Ru part of the name) bought this property in 1979 to agist some cows and Ruth set about establishing the gardens which now cover 10 acres. They began hosting weddings in 1990 and there are event spaces, plus accomodation on the property. Al Ru Farm can be found just outside the small township of One Tree Hill, keep going on the back roads and you do end up in the Barossa Valley. With such extensive grounds, the gardens are spaced into various 'rooms'. There's a lake with a large open area, from photos it seems this is where a marque can be placed for wedding receptions. Camden High Street, London

Camden was a new area of London for me to explore, I went there primarily to visit the markets but enjoyed the various sights on the High Street as well. I've already written a post about my visit to the markets. http://theresabigwideworld.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/camden-lock-markets.html To get to the Lock markets from the Camden town Tube Station, you needed to walk up the High Street. It's a one way street lined with small shops, mainly clothing and souvenir stores. What makes the High Street interesting is how some of the buildings are decorated from the outside. Just before arriving at the Lock markets I saw this store, it's a clothing store and those are old sewing machines, in the little window boxes. I loved the display, totally charmed by it. A close up. Moonta, South Australia

A Copper Coast Town Moonta is one of the Copper Coast towns, and the one to me at least, most known as the town that serviced the local copper industry. Copper was found in the area in 1861 and the government town of Moonta was surveyed two years later. It was a commercial and business town, rather than a mining town, the miners lived on or near their mine leases at the township of Moonta Mines. Moonta has a number of rather grand buildings that were built at the height of the mining era in the late 1800s. There's a little heritage walk that you can do and I set off after having some lunch. A Cornish pasty! It is the Cornish triangle in Australia, so had to have something traditional! The walk begins at the Town Hall, it was built in 1885 and the clock tower was added in 1907.
