Royal Tiaras

My collection so far (that I've seen, not own!) The Scroll tiara, worn by Kate Middleton on her wedding day. I kept getting tiara youtube videos recommended to me and then realised I've seen quite a few of the recommendations in real life. So as I like putting together collections, here are the ones I've seen. Cartier Exhibition, National Gallery of Australia The National Gallery of Australia held a Cartier exhibition in 2018. I travelled to Canberra and was able to see this exhibition, on display were some tiaras as well as other jewels and Cartier objects. What made this exhibition special was that the items on display were not just those owned by Cartier but also loaned to Cartier for the exhibition, including jewels owned by Queen Elizabeth II. Once such item was the Scroll tiara, ( the Halo Cartier tiara) which the Queen loaned to Kate Middleton on her wedding day. Where to stay: Pullman G Bangkok

Nice hotel in a good location Price Mid range price and good value for money Location Very good location, just off the freeway from the airport so it removes much of the moving through crowded Bangkok traffic. A five minute walk from the Skytrain (BST) station of Chong nonsi, which makes it easy to travel around Bangkok. Can also walk down to the river in about 20 minutes to the Sathorn Pier to travel along the river. Plenty of restaurants and street food vendors in the area. Facilities Good sized rooms The hotel has a lounge bar area for quick bites, an attached restaurant which is a burger, wine and liquor bar, upstairs is a restaurant that in the morning serves breakfast and then is an Italian restaurant called 'Thaittoria'. Woolmers Estate, Tasmania

A World Heritage Listed Convict Site Woolmers Estate can be found in northern Tasmania, it's about a 30 minute drive from Launceston. I originally discovered it when on Trip Advisor looking at the 10 best things to do when visiting Clarendon, the National Trust property that is nearby. Turns out Woolmers Estate is quite well known and an UNESCO World Heritage Site! The first Thomas Archer was granted 800 acres in 1817 and this became the basis of his pastoral holdings, over the years it grew much larger and he was able to build some considerable wealth. Labour was plentiful in colonial Tasmania through its convict assignment system. Convicts were assigned to free settlers who were then responsible for housing, feeding and clothing them in exchange for their labour. Great system for the government as they didn't have to pay to keep the convicts and the free settlers got cheap labour. Abigwideworld: There's a big wide world out there and I want to see as much of it as possible, is a sentence that I have used over the years to explain why I love to travel so much. I'm fortunate that I've been able to see quite a bit of the world, but there's a lot more to see! This blog is a great way for me to record my travels.
